Walcountian Blues Lacrosse Club has quite a history. The men’s part of the club was initially formed back in 1982 by players from nearby Purley, who subsequently became Chipstead, then Tatsfield and finally, upon moving to the Walcountian Sports Club in 1999, the Blues.
In the meantime, Purley Ladies was formed in 1979 and won the All England tournament in their founding year. 2007-8 saw the successful merger of Purley Ladies and Walcountian Blues, leading to the eventual renaming of the ladies team, and the rest is history!
The club currently runs two men's senior teams, two ladies senior teams and various junior teams. Training is held on Wednesday evenings at the club; juniors train from 6-7.30pm and seniors train from 7.30-9pm. The club also runs Europe's largest and best annual lacrosse tournament, Bluesfest, which celebrated its 10th anniversary in June 2014. We host a weekend of lacrosse for up to 40 teams, with a themed fancy dress party in the clubhouse on the Saturday night!
